2014 End Of Year Picnic

STS is Now a Renaissance Lighthouse School!

Congratulations to all of the students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members to help STS achieve its goal of becoming a Renaissance Lighthouse School.

A few years ago a committee was formed to explore ways to improve the educational experience offered at STS. After doing extensive research STS decided that Renaissance Learning was a great fit for the school. Renaissance has a program call the Lighthouse School. This program is aimed at schools that do not have funding to acquire all of the technology tools that make this program a success. Renaissance, STS, and members of the community worked together to get the funding needed to move the program forward. With the funds acquired the school could purchase interactive white boards, individual interactive keyboards, and the educational software that accompanies these tools. In return STS had goals that they were asked to achieve in a 3 year timeframe. With three years passed and all of the goals achieved, STS became the 1st school in Hawaii and the 5th in the nation to be awarded Renaissance Lighthouse School status. STS is now a beacon for other schools who are interested in the program.

STS has seen remarkable improvements in test scores. When STS is compared to national schools in the program in many cases they are progressing at a faster rate than peers their age. Gains have been seen in all grades from the start of the program. You can visit renlearn.com for more information.

The event was held at sunset on the main courtyard area. It was a wonderful, colorful event that was enjoyed by the students, parents, and community.
